A skydiving adventurer

I've got a seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeecret!

I overheard mom talking on the phone and she's going to go see Jon this week AND I get to go too. She didn't say so, but I KNOW it!

She was asking questions like, "Do you accept pets? . . . . one cat . . ."

And I just KNOW it KNOW it KNOW it!!! She's taking me on the airplane with her and we're flying to Oregon and I'm going to climb Mt. Hood and meet a mountain lion and LEAP off of a ski jump and I'm going to make headlines ALL OVER Oregon because I am the most beautiful cat in the world and when they see what a skydiving adventurer I am they will make movies about me and I'll have my own TV show . . . .

WOWie . . . this is going to be SO cool.

My Buddy Buzz!

What a day!

Shhhhhhhhhhh! He's meditating.

Hello there!

Howdy!

If Puppies can Fly, So can I

Jim came home last night. Did some laundry and some quantum and packed a bag. Mom said she's taking him to the airport this afternoon to fly to Wisconsin.

Next week he's flying to Ithaca, New York.

I miss Jim. He didn't bring the fish home this time either.

I offered to go with Jim this time. Last trip (to California) he was sitting next to a guy who had a puppy with him! If puppies can fly, so can I.

Dad's a rock star!

and he bought me a penguin. My very own penguin. Now I need to name him. George is what I'm going to name my pony. So I need another name for the Penguin.

I took some photos but left the camera at work, so I can't put them up on my Blog yet.

Dad was very tired from his trip home this weekend--he tried to explain jet lag to me but I didn't really get it. All I know is he got me a penguin. I love penguins.

I got to see some video of Dad from his presentations last week and . . . wow . . . Dad's a ROCK STAR! He is really really good at what he does. And they love him.

The President's were in our dining room last night for a teleconference. There are a couple Presidents. One in North America and one in Korea. Computers are amazing things . . .

I wanted to show them my Penguin but Dad said, "Not now Dougal. Maybe next time."

I suppose it would be best to get the penguin named before I introduce him around.

Mom has clock trouble

Mom scared ALL of us this morning.

She got up to get a drink of water, saw that the clock in the bathroom said 7:10 and realized she was supposed to be at work for a 7:30 meeting. She yelped and quickly starting washing her hair and frantically getting around.

She didn't feed us and she ignored us . . . running around and talking to herself. She almost called the President to tell him she was running late . . . and then she saw the clock in the kitchen.

IT said 2:30 . . . and the alarm clock said 2:30 . . . and her watch said 2:30 . . . and it was really really dark outside.

So mom went back to the bathroom clock and it was ticking and it wasn't tocking.

"You have got to be kidding me . . ." mom said and started to take her office clothes off again.

She went back to bed, so I'm assuming she decided to skip her meetings.

It's almost the WEEKend!!

Mom went and got Jim late Wednesday night. They didn't get back from the airport until 11:30. Yesterday Jim packed up his stuff, said goodbye and promised to tell the Fish Channel I was asking after them.

I like the fish channel.

It's FAScinATing!!!

My Happy Place

It was 72 degrees today.

~~big breath inhale~~

It was 72 degrees today. The snow was melting.

~~big breath exhale~~

It was 72 degrees today. And the sun was shining--making many sunshine puddles to sleep in.

~~sigh~~

It was wonderful.

Spring is coming.

Jim just called from the Pacific Ocean

I could hear waves (or wind) in the background.

He said something about maybe wanting to move there. Really.

I don't know what to do. California? Governor Terminator? He CANNOT be serious . . . .can he?

I have to remember that Jon almost went to California too. It might not happen.

Then again . . . it might.

It wasn't me!

It wasn't me. It was Tiger and mom saw him!

Oh good grief! Do you know what time it is?

Jim was up veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery early this morning. He and mom left the house at 4:30. Mom said she was driving Jim to the airport so he could take a plane to Cincinnati . . .which seemed odd, because his appointments are in California . . . but apparently he's getting another plan in Cincinnati for Los Angeles and then flying from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara.

That's a lot of flying.

THEN HE CALLED! And he was in Los Angeles! His plane had flown over the city and he SAW the Hollywood sign from the airplane. He's getting lunch at the airport and then flying to Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara . . . I wonder if she knows Santa Claus?

If he has a tattoo

Then I want a tattoo. Mom only lets me get the temporary ones and that is SO not fair!

You have GOT to be kidding!

Midnight has a Penguin friend. I KNEW IT!!! He's having all the fun and getting to talk and dance with Penguins and I am stuck here in this silly old house not having ANY fun at all!
OH I AM SO UPSET!!! I AM GOING TO GO SCREAM AND CRY.
I am so . . . ~~sniff~~ Sniff~~ . . . sad . . . ~~gulp~~ and so . .. . ~~whimper~~ hurt . . . .
I am the one that loves Penguins. If Midnight has a pony too , I just don't know WHAT I'm going to do.
Maybe I'll run away.

Dad says they're playing Christmas Music at Breakfast

What a crazy country. I mean even I know that daylight savings time means it's time to get the Christmas decorations down. :)

Big Excitement

Chester and I were on guard at the back door and TWO cats came up. One was a big cat, black and white and the other was a teenager, a brown tiger striped and they were staring at us and we were staring at them and then Chester said something low and mean and it rumbled up his throat. It was shocking! I stared at him confused and worried because I didn't like what he said, though I'm not really sure WHAT he said . . . it sounded dangerous and scary and then he SAID it again! It was very scary. I found myself saying something too and then the black and white cat on the deck said something and the younger cat looked at him like, "You said WHAT?"
Then mom came and broke it up. The cats on the deck went away and mom petted me and said, "It's okay honey. They're gone now." And she petted chester and said, "Good job! You're a good guard cat."

Big excitement.

Tiger paid no attention. He was napping next to mom and he didn't even wake up. at all. I realize it wasn't his turn for guard duty, but he could have lent us a little support.

Midnight in Rolling Hills

Dad sent me this picture to show me the safe where Midnight has to sleep during the day.
It looks like a drawer.
I thought safes were bigger and had big whirly gears on the front. . . . . hmmmm . . . .

Bad Hair Day

I've just spent way too long looking through photos of me to put a new one up and I realized . . . uck. None of these photos really show me to my best. My hair is all this and it's doing that thing and it's a mess.

~~sigh~~

So Dad, I'm sorry, but I need a new photo shoot. How can I be a movie star model without some good head shots? Can I have the credit card?

Technology for Cats

I learned new technology last night. I learned how to upload my own photo and make a talking eCard out of it. It was a Hooooot!

I sent it to dad and it made him laugh. :)

I love dad.

I am SO pissed

So I was reading over mom's shoulder. Dad sent her an email and said something about Midnight being with him and I am SO PISSED!
This is a picture of me and Midnight. We are pals. Or at least I THOUGHT we were pals. The lying, conniving meddlesome Midnight. HE went in Dad's suitcase. HE'S with Dad sightseeing and having sardines and sushi and staying up late at night to watch MASH reruns and napping in the room while Dad goes to work and I AM SO PISSED.
If Dad was going to take just ANY old black cat with him on his trip, I fully expected him to take ME.
ME! Dougal.
ME! Your best friend in the entire world.
ME! Your happy dancing cat who speaks Korean, after all.
But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo you took that stupid Midnight.
You just can't trust Beanie Babies. They act like your friend and then step in and steal all the love for themselves.
I am so sad . . . . . I am so angry . . . I think I need to go pee on something.

Dad's Actual Actual Horoscope for today

LEO
Today you have an opportunity to be a hero by making contact with your inner diplomat. You have the ability now to express opposing points of view without your ego getting in the way. Everyone will be happy once they come closer to a common ground, and your negotiation skills can make all the difference.

I never thought about it before but THAT's why Dad and I are the best of best friends. Because he's a Leo and Leo is a Lion and that's a cat.

You have to love being a cat, don't you?

Picasso's Cat

Feels a little flat today.

And so is a cat

The artist is a receptacle for the emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web. Pablo Picasso

SEE . . . THIS is what I've been saying!

I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it. Pablo Picasso

I never met that Pablo dude, but he is a very smart cat.

Think summer

mom had the back door open for a bit yesterday afternoon. It was chilly fresh air. It made me long for the good old lazy hazy days of summer.
When you can drive to Ohio to buy exceptional fireworks including amazing SUPER loud bottle rockets . . . .
They went *fip* . . . I didn't really hear any BOOM . . .which is what I'd call super loud, but there you go. They're made in China, it was probably a translation error.

This is for you Dad

Its funny how you sound as though you're right next door

When you're really half a world away

I just cant seem to find the words Im looking for

To say the things that I want to say

I can't remember when I felt so close to you

Its almost more than I can bear

And though I seem half a million miles from you

You are in my heart and living there

And the moon and the stars are the same ones you see

Its the same old sun up in the sky

And your voice in my ear is like heaven to me

Like the breezes here in old shanghai

There are lovers who walk hand in hand in the park

And lovers who walk all alone

There are lovers who lie unafraid in the dark

And lovers who long for home

Oh, I couldn't leave you even if I wanted to

You're in my dreams and always near

And especially when I sing the songs I wrote for you

You are in my heart and living there

And the moon and the stars are the same ones you see

Its the same old sun up in the sky

And your face in my dreams is like heaven to me

Like the breezes here in old shanghai

Shanghai breezes cool and clearing evenings sweet caress

Shanghai breezes soft and gentle remind me of your tenderness

And the moon and the stars are the same ones you see

It's the same old sun up in the sky

And your love in my life is like heaven to me

Like the breezes here in old shanghai

And the moon and the stars are the same ones you see

It's the same old sun up in the sky

And your love in my life is like heaven to me

Like the breezes here in old shanghai

Just like the breezes here in old shanghai

Words and music by john denver

(Mom said this song came out when you were still in the US Navy and it comforted her while you were on deployment. She said it would make me feel better too. It does. . .. . 'cept . . . where the hell is Shanghai?)

Busy busy times

It is toooooooooooo early this morning.

Dad was packing last night. There are two BIG bags. I think he's going to be gone awhile. I'm sad about that.

On the other hand. Jim is home. This is the first he's been home since Christmas. He didn't bring the Fish Channel TV, but he did bring lots of other cool stuff. I was able to sneak upstairs while he was unpacking.

Jim and I were talking about Fish. We have very good discussions about things we have in common. I enjoy that. Lots.

Jon called Friday and he told me that he got the job! He will need to move at the end of the month, so Mom is thinking about going out to help him move.

I'm a little worried about who's going to feed me while she's gone. Because at that time Jim will be back to school--or off to his college interview trips . . . whatever . . . I'm counting on my paws and I don't see who's going to be HERE to make sure we get fed.

I need to bring this up at the next family powwow session.

That and the fact that the tinned mice we've been eating lately do not include sardine sauce and I miss that. The sardine sauce was my favorite part of dinner.
