The Sardines are MINE

Mom and I packed some boxes and sent them to Jon and Jim. I said that we should give them some sardines. Everybody loves sardines. Mom said, "But then there would be less sardines for you."

So I apologize Jon and Jim . . . but the sardines are MINE!

he said, she said

Maybe I should be a reporter, or get my own TV show, like Oprah . . . .
First--I'll ask Mom . . .and when Dad gets home . . . I'll ask him next.

1. What attracted you to your partner?
He was handsome, very smart with a delightful sense of humor.

2. What does he do that makes you laugh?
Fires rockets off the deck.

3. Where was your first date?
Henry Ford Museum (he will say Cedar Point, but that doesn't count. They were in a group and I paid my own way . . . dates are about two people--not a bunch!)

4. What has your mate said about you that surprised or flatter you?
That he really admired how I do my job, that I'm good at it and he would never want to do what I do--it would be too hard for him.

5. Was it love at first sight or a friendship that blossomed?
For me it was love at first sight. I have loved him a long long time. Since I was a sophomore in high school . . . . it took him about 5 years to ask me out, though.

6. How do you settle your differences?
NOW . . . we talk about them. Occassionally we place bets and flip a coin. We used to avoid talking about anything we disagreed about and that wasn't very healthy.

7. Do you agree about the temperature in the house?
For the most part yes. He likes it warmer than I do, for the most part. What we DO disagree about is mornings. I can't wait for the day to begin. He likes to sleep in.

8. Are there places you'd now like to revisit with your partner?
Yes. I'd like to go to Italy, Nice and Monte Carlo with him. He was there when he was in the Navy . . . I'd like to see these places with him. And England . . . . I'd like to take him back to where I went to school and see the sights. And Paris. We have a date to have lunch at the Eiffel Tower . . .

9. Who in his family adds the most to our relationship?
Adds the MOST? His mother. Adds the best? . . . . well that would . . . hmmmm . . . well . . . of HIS family . . . . probably . . . well . . . . Mark and Mary.

10. What holiday requires the most compromise?
Halloween. He likes ghosts and ghouls . .. I prefer princesses and pirates . . .

An Interview with ME!

1. Who's the smartest person in your family?
. . . . well clearly . . . ME . . . but if it wasn't me . . . then it's a tie . . Jon and Jim. I'll give extra points to the brother that sends me sardines FIRST when he reads this.

2. What is your dad really good at?
. . . .shooting polar bears and wolves.*

3. What can you do better than dad?
Oh that's EASY! Chill out and nap. I am MUCH better at that than Dad.

4. How am I like my mom?
. . . .welllllllllll . . . . I like to make messes when scrapbooking!

5. How are you different from mom?
I don't have as many rules and I know how to get Dad's attention even when he's shooting polar bears.

6. How old is mom?
Oh that's dangerous . . . do i really say? . . . . She's old enough to remember black and white TV, changing TV channels with pliers because the knob fell off . . . old enough to remember only have 1 network TV station available (she lived up north) . .. . old enough to remember the Detroit Riots and watching the national guard come in in riot gear at MSU to quell the student unrest . . . . Not quite old enough to remember riding in a horse and buggy.

7. How tall is dad?
He's way taller than me and taller than Bruce, but not as tall as Jon and Jim. Sometimes when mom puts her fancy boots on she's taller than Dad too. Especially if she stands on the stairstep.

8. What one thing is mom always saying to you?
Well the MOST often thing she says is, "You could ACT like you know the rules. GET OFF THE TABLE." and the second most often thing is, "Love you George." I don't know why she calls me George. That's not my name, but I know when she calls me George she really really loves me.

9. What did you and dad do together that you'll always remember?
Oh this is EASY! We went to Hawaii and napped in a hammock! That was a great day.

10. How do you know that mom and dad love you?
I think I'm going to get choked up . . . I know they love me every day because they hold me, pet me, buy me sardines (but not ENOUGH SARDINES--PLEASE SEND MORE!!!), sing to me, help me blog, let me nap on their laps and they relax when I put my paw on their cheeks. Both of them. It's like I have a magic paw.

*Dad's on the last level of his Cabella's hunting video game. At least we THINK it's the last level. The only thing left would be elephants and whales.

Oooooooooooo scary . . . . NOT

Mom is driving me nuts!
She got this pandora bracelet that you can add charms to and yesterday she got a ghost charm.
Now when she's holding me and we're watching TV or reading she'll touch her braclet and go . . . oooooooooo ooooooooooo ooooooooooo . . . . in a very NOT scary voice.
I know, I know . . . I'm a black cat and all that black cat halloween stuff . . .but Mom . . .really . . .you're driving me nuts!

That is a sardine anyway?

Autumn is here.

Finally. The weather has been a little too hot for me to be comfortable--but this week is suddenly became fall.

Another year passing by.

I am now 6 years old and that means I am going to have trouble claiming "kitten issues" when I do something silly. Chester (who is so freakin' old all he DOES is lecture me about growing up!) says that I'm now old enough to start leading our Socrates group. I get the Monday morning shift. Which isn't a great honor. Nobody is really alert on Monday mornings, so it will be difficult to get them going.

I'm planning tomorrow's discussion and there are just so many many things to talk about.

First up, though, is a question that's been on my mind for a very very long time.

What is a sardine? I have tried to research fishing for sardines, I thought that would be a good hobby for mom and dad to take up . . . after all there are THREE cats here and we all love sardines.

Oh it's good to know cats have friends!

Finally things are back to normal

Can we go to the zoo today mom?

Mom and dad were gone all day Sunday, at the Taste. When they came home they smelled like Mac & Cheese and Mini lobster-butter burgers and ice cream! mmmmmmmmmm ice cream!

There were 14,000 people at this year's event and that was pretty impressive.

But today is a happy cat day!!!

Mom gets today off and we're going to re poof the comforters and pillows that I like to sleep on. Mom's going to make me some special kittie treats (I hope hope hope it's SARDINES!) And then MAYbe, she'll take me to the zoo. I want to see the penguins!

What a great great day!
